Horse Mushroom

Agaricus arvensis

10th November 2017, Cobham Park
Growing through grass under large ash tree in open woodland. Several scattered in a group. Cap 3.5-8cm but mostly young. Slight smell. I didn't think these were Horse Mushrooms at first, due to lack of almondy smell, but this now seems the most likely identification. ID is best guess. Sporeprint Dark chocolate brown. Spores 6-7.5µ x 4.5-5.5µ.

6th September 2014, Ladywell Fields
Growing in grass in large partial ring about 15 foot across. About 20 immature mushrooms. Cap of immature specimens up to 8cm. Smell mild mushroomy perhaps a hint of almond/aniseed. ID is almost sure. Sporeprint Chocolate brown. Spores 4.5-5.5µ x 3-4µ.

27th October 2013, Blarney Castle, Ireland
Cap 5cm. Smell faint. Spore print dark brown. Horse Mushroom probably, although the gills are rather pink. Cap 5cm but there were only young specimens. ID is possible.

20th October 2013, Breakfast from Ladywell Fields
Growing in grass beside trees. Spores seem a bit too small for Horse Mushroom. One small patch of ground has been producing these for over a month at the rate of about 4 per week. Eaten. ID is very likely. Spores 5-6.5µ x 4-5.5µ. Spores seem a bit too small for Horse Mushroom.
